Frequently Asked Questions

What time will my pet be ready to go home?

Our schedule varies greatly from day to day, and we don’t always know if everyone will show up until that morning. In addition, we are a high-volume clinic and see many pets per day, up to 20-25 on some days. We don’t necessarily perform surgeries on a “first-come-first-served” basis, and the order can change even throughout the day, so we will not always be able to guarantee a pickup time. Our latest pickups are typically by 8-9pm, but 5-6pm is average. We will contact you when your pet is ready, and despite the hours listed online, we do not close until every last patient has gone home or made arrangements to stay overnight if necessary.

What is the “feral cat package”?

The feral cat pack is a special incentive to get our outside, stray/unowned feline friends spayed, neutered and a brief exam/basic medical care to help control the unwanted cat population. The package includes the spay or neuter surgery, a brief exam while under sedation (with a consult for potential treatment if desired by the caretaker for any problems found), a dose of flea/heartworm/intestinal parasite prevention (lasts one month), a Rabies vaccine, and an ear tip to identify them as altered. The ear tip will be given to ALL animals receiving the FCP, whether they are friendly or not, and ALL ANIMALS RECEIVING THE FCP MUST BE BROUGHT IN A LIVE TRAP. Even if they are friendly with you, they may not be friendly with strangers in a new, stressful environment.

I want my outdoor cat to get the feral cat package, but don’t want an ear tip. Can I do that?

If you animal is a pet that is an outdoor cat and you do not want them to have an ear tip, we can still perform the same services as the FCP without the tip, but they will be charged at full price.

My cat is friendly. Does it need to be in a carrier/trap?

As mentioned previously, all pets getting the feral cat package must be in a live trap. In addition, all other cats must be in a carrier for safety purposes. We typically have cat and dog patients on separate days, but sometimes we do have them mixed and we do not want any accidents to occur. Also, even cats who do not typically enjoy being in a carrier for a car ride will prefer to stay in one once they are in an unfamiliar environment, as it becomes a safe space for them. If you do not have a trap or carrier and need one for you appointment, you may stop by during our business hours and borrow one for a small, fully-refundable fee.
